An exercise in basic woodcraft and traditional joinery, UTILITY CHAIR is designed with pure functionality in mind, meant for use in everyday working environments. It is entirely made of pine processed down from its 3cm x 6cm x 250cm stock form, an opportunity to learn techniques such as lamination and tenon mitre joinery. Learning the theory behind how wood is processed from tree to plank, seasoning, expansion with humidity, direction of warping with grain, etc was the foundation on which this chair design was formed.
