DIGITAL 3D MODELLING, 3D PRINT PLA / DISH DRAINING MAT PROTOTYPE / 2021
BY ARTHUR HAINZ
GREEN KITCHEN is a dish drainer that focuses of sustainability through convenience. By integrating the watering of kitchen plants into the dish washing the user is spared the extra effort that often leads to herbs dying prematurely and being disposed of. As these plants often come in non-recyclable pots or individual plastic packaging, this system allows guilt free enjoyment of flavourful food, minus the waste.

The grooves lead water to one of two removable planters, attached by a slot and slide system of suction cups. These can be used to fix said planters to windows, addressing both the lack of space in many users kitchen and the tendency of plants to die from lack of sunlight simultaneously. Due to the forward weight of the plater, these also experience little force directed directly down, preventing sliding. Each planter should be filled with clay pellet planting medium which filters soap remainders from the water and soaks up excess, preventing overwatering.
