BRONZE, MISCELANEOUS / STOP-MOTION, OBJECT / 2022
BY ARTHUR HAINZ
A venture into storytelling and set design, THE DOOR is a short stop motion piece showcasing the most quintessential set piece in the horror genre, the door. Doors disappear and reappear in progressively larger quantities, each holding the potential to be concealing horrors just out of sight, until the last swallows the viewer into its inescapable darkness.

The design of the door itself is the product of investigation into existing door designs, modified with elements that play off of expected forms to induce tension and unease. Sand casted and partly polished, these bronze artefacts became the seed around which the story grew.
